Frequently asked questions
Is it really a one-time payment?
Yes. One payment, no subscription, no renewal. The only other service involved is Groq for speech recognition. Its free tier currently covers about 8 hours of speech per day, plenty for normal use. Groq sets its limits and prices itself.
What is Groq and do I need an account?
Groq is the service that turns your speech into text. You create a free personal key there and paste it into the app. The in-app guide shows every tap.
What does Groq cost?
For normal use, nothing. Groq lists up to 8 hours of Whisper audio per day on the free tier. Groq changes the limits, so check console.groq.com.
Where do my recordings go?
Audio and text go straight to Groq with your key to be transcribed and cleaned up. Pythia Voice does not store them and does not pass them on.
Why does the app need Accessibility?
Only then can the button appear above the keyboard and the text land in the field you are typing in. Only that text field is read.
Does it work offline?
No. Recognition needs an internet connection.
Is there an iPhone or Windows version?
Not yet. Pythia Voice is Android only for now.
